The 2007 Celebration of Excellence graduation event was a grand success! The event, held at the Ferst Center for the Arts on Wednesday, June 13, honored 388 foster youth who were graduating from high school or a GED program and 11 college graduates. Donnie Olajuwon, former foster youth and Cum Laude graduate of Georgia State University, emceed the event. Governor and Mrs. Perdue provided words of congratulations and encouragement to the students. 2006 Georgia State graduate and current UGA graduate student, Bernice Butler provided her tips for success in a very inspirational message to the audience and the Inner Harbour EXCEL African Drum Ensemble rocked the house during the ceremony and throughout the reception. Raving Brands restaurants - Moe's, Shane's Rib Shack, and Doc Greens - provided a feast to satisfy a wide variety of tastes that everyone enjoyed.
